In a moving homily, Fr. Miguel Angel Hernandez, Prior General of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, addressed a profound question during the first Mass with the Recollect community in the city of San Carlos. “Why do we get so upset when the Lord forgives sinners?” Â The celebration took place Oct. 11 at St. Thomas of Villanova-Recoletos Chapel.
The Prior General is on a fraternal visit to Asia. For two months he will visit the ministries of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, which includes the Philippines, Indonesia, Saipan and Vietnam. His presence has been enthusiastically received by the local communities, and his message of forgiveness and understanding has resonated deeply.
Feast of St. Thomas of Villanova
The celebration of the Feast of the universal Augustinian Bishop on October 10 was a special event where the Prior General joined the community of St. Thomas-Recoletos College. Despite the rain, the Thomasians welcomed the Prior General with yellow and white flags waving enthusiastically.
Fr. Cristopher Maspara, director of CST-R and prior of the community, stressed the importance of the celebration of the feast. He thanked on behalf of all the ‘Thomasians’ for this meaningful event that strengthened the bonds of the community.
Gerardo Alminaza, Bishop of the Diocese of San Carlos, extended a warm welcome to the Prior General and Fr. Luciano Audisio, Secretary General, who is accompanying this trip. Miguel’s visit was a moment of deep reflection and brotherhood in this region, recalling the importance of forgiveness and compassion in the spiritual life.
