JAR Brazil appoints new National Council

Twenty-five young RAY representatives from various ministries of the Order in Brazil met at Sitio Santo Agostinho in Rio de Janeiro to elect the new National Council. His role will be to guide and accompany the local ARBs in the provinces of Santo Tomás de Villanueva and San Nicolás de Tolentino in Brazil.

For three days, from May 3 to 5, the young people participated in moments of reflection, Eucharistic adoration and shared experiences of their communities. The agenda included a retreat focused on Augustinian spirituality and the importance of interiority in the mission of accompanying young people.

The assembly was attended by representatives of the two provinces present in Brazil, St. Thomas of Villanova and St. Nicholas of Tolentine, demonstrating the commitment and collaboration between the two provinces.

On Saturday, the members of the Rio de Janeiro RAY presented the roles and functions of the coordinator and the members of the movement, which has given rise to a space for dialogue and collaboration among the participants. Finally, on Sunday, in an atmosphere marked by fraternity and discernment, the election of the new National Council took place.

As explained by Fr. Ismael XurucThe criterion of choice was prayer, dialogue and the common desire to rebuild the charismatic identity among the young people,” said General Councilor and responsible for the Augustinian Recollect Youth in the Order. All supported by an authority of service that could understand and accompany the diverse and rich experience that each community brought with them”.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the following names were selected to lead the National Council for the next three years:

– National Coordinator: Livia Quintella (JAR New Leblon – RJ)

– Secretary: Livia da Silva e Silva (JAR Manaus – AM)

– Training Vocal: André Araujo (JAR Leblon – RJ)

– Spirituality Spokesperson: Carina Ribeiro de Souza (JAR Guaraciaba do Norte – CE)

– Communication Vocal: Maryanna Tavares (JAR Cachoeiro do Itapemirim – ES)

The first task of the new National Council is to understand the reality of each community and draw up a work plan based on the decisions of the First JAR Synod in Salamanca (Spain). The meeting concluded with Our Lady of Consolation in mind, asking her intercession to accompany and strengthen the hearts of these young people in their noble mission of being young Augustinian Recollects in the world.
