In a fraternal encounter that reflects the spirit of collaboration and unity of the great Augustinian family, the Colegio de San Agustín-Bacolod made a reference academic visit to the Colegio de Santo Tomás-Recoletos on July 16, 2025, with the objective of learning about the development and implementation of its new Bachelor’s Degree program in Criminology.
The Bacolod (OSA) delegation was led by Fr. Raymudo Edsel T. Akayaga, together with other institutional and academic representatives.
During the day, the visiting team toured the Crime Laboratory of the College of Santo Tomas-Recoletos, located in the San Jose Building. There they were able to observe the facilities and methodologies used in the program, which formally started this year after receiving the Government Recognition, granted by the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines in early 2025.
This new Criminology program marks an important milestone for the College of St. Thomas-Recoletos, as it symbolizes the growth and diversification of its academic offerings. With its sights set on the comprehensive and ethical training of future professionals in the field of criminal justice, the institution is preparing to graduate its first class of students in this specialty.
Cristopher C. Maspara, president of the host college, accompanied by Dr. Ma. Nita V. Bolo, head of the Student Development and Orientation Center, and Mrs. Maria Cindy N. Gabutas, Quality Assurance Officer.
The visit reaffirms the shared commitment among Augustinian institutions to work together for quality education, deeply rooted in the spirituality and values of the charism of St. Augustine.
